Establishment of advocacy for children and youth

Advocacy on behalf of children and youth became an integral and distinct component of Alberta’s Children’s Services system in September of 1989. The Office of the Child and Youth Advocate provides individual and systemic advocacy for children and youth receiving services under the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act (Enhancement Act) and the Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Act (PSECA). It also provides training and support to individuals and organizations interested in advocating for vulnerable children and families.
