Privacy and Confidentiality
Families and individuals who are involved with, or receiving services under, the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act (Enhancement Act) will have information about them on files. Caseworkers and other people who gather information must keep the file information private. That means that they are not allowed to tell others about you unless it is shared to help you and/or your family receive the services that you need. The Enhancement Act is specific about who information can be given to.
You can read Section 126(1) in the Enhancement Act for more details. The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) also has rules about sharing private information. You will find links to both of these documents at the bottom of this page.
If you feel your personal information has been given to someone who should not have it, you can make a complaint to:
Your caseworker;
The Information and Privacy Office handling calls regarding Children’s Services (call 427-2805); or
